Terms of Service
These terms describe DaBid's free, pickup-only giveaway service.
Accounts and eligibility
You must be at least 18, complete onboarding, keep accurate account information, and use only your own account. To list, claim, or bid, an account must be active and unrestricted. A recipient must also be within the applicable pickup limit, must not be blocked by the giver, and cannot claim or bid on their own listing.
Everything listed is free
DaBid does not allow a giver to charge for an item and does not process or facilitate outside payment. Do not request or offer cash, cards, bank transfers, cryptocurrency, tips, deposits, fees, or payment handles through a listing or pickup. DaBid does not provide escrow, refunds, payment proof, purchase protection, shipping, or delivery.
Quick Giveaway
A Quick Giveaway costs zero Bid Tickets. The first eligible claim confirmed by the DaBid server creates the pickup. There is no queue, random drawing, or giver selection. If another eligible person has already completed the claim, later attempts receive an already-claimed result. An unclaimed listing may expire and may then be relisted by the giver.
Ticket Giveaway
- The giver chooses a 1-, 12-, 24-, or 72-hour window; the default is 24 hours.
- An eligible recipient may place one sealed whole-number bid from 1 through 100 per listing. Before allocation, the recipient may edit, withdraw, or re-enter it. Each edit or re-entry receives a new final server timestamp.
- The full bid is held while active. Requests received at or after the deadline are rejected.
- The giver may set one optional, immutable instant-match target from 1 through 100 at publication. Only the giver may see it in the giver's private owned-listing view, and it remains private after allocation or closing. Before allocation, the giver cannot see bids, bidders, or a current leader, and the public cannot see the target or sealed activity.
- Under a server-side listing lock, the first accepted bid or edit at or above the target wins immediately and commits the full amount actually bid.
- If no bid meets the target, the deadline order is highest bid, then earliest final server timestamp, then stable bid identifier.
- Allocation commits the winner's held tickets and releases every losing hold atomically. Successful pickup burns the committed tickets. A failed or cancelled pickup restores them. There is no runner-up allocation; the giver may relist instead.
Bid Tickets have no value
Bid Tickets are revocable participation capacity, not money, stored value, property, or a reward owed to a user. They cannot be bought, sold, transferred, gifted, redeemed, cashed out, inherited, converted to money or goods, accepted outside DaBid, or paid to a giver. DaBid does not issue manual payment-style refunds or decide ticket disputes based on an outside exchange.
Each eligible account refills to a maximum total capacity of 100 at midnight in America/New_York. Tickets do not accumulate above 100. Available, held, and committed tickets together cannot exceed that capacity. The authoritative balance is maintained by the server.
Contribution recognition
A completed giver may receive a nonspendable successful-giveaway count and badges at 1, 5, 25, and 100 completed giveaways. Public recognition is off by default and appears only if the giver opts in. Recognition never increases ticket capacity, bidding power, feed placement, allocation priority, or access to an item.
Activity limits and reliability
An account may have at most three active listings, five active Ticket Giveaway bids, and two unresolved pickups in each role. A Quick Giveaway uses a pickup slot but no bid slot.
DaBid uses objective pickup and listing events over a rolling 30-day period. Warnings appear at one and two events. New listings, claims, and bids are restricted for 24 hours at three events, 72 hours at five, and seven days at seven. Applying a restriction ends active, unallocated listings and bids and releases their holds without adding another event. Existing pickup actions, reporting, privacy requests, and account deletion remain available.
An event may result when a giver cancels a Ticket Giveaway after bids exist, either participant cancels an allocated pickup, or a participant misses that role's required pickup deadline. Both participants receive an event only if each independently misses a required action. Withdrawing a bid, expiration without a claim, and an unverified report do not create an event.
Pickup-only coordination
Givers provide pickup availability and, after allocation, participant-only exact pickup details. DaBid uses structured pickup actions rather than free-form chat, phone numbers, or payment-handle exchange. The app does not provide route planning, live location, transportation, shipping, delivery, or pickup safety guarantees. Choose a safe public location when possible and leave if a pickup feels unsafe.
Listings, food, and prohibited conduct
Givers must describe items honestly and may not list illegal, recalled, stolen, counterfeit, hazardous, prohibited, or legally restricted goods. Packaged pantry food must be factory sealed, shelf stable, in original packaging, and within its stated best-by date. Giveaways are not charitable-donation or tax-receipt workflows; DaBid does not verify charities, issue receipts, or provide tax advice.
Users may not harass others, evade blocks or limits, use multiple accounts to gain capacity, manipulate bids or timestamps, misrepresent items or pickup events, post unsafe instructions, or use DaBid for spam, fraud, threats, or unlawful activity.
Moderation, reports, and service role
With explicit user consent, DaBid uses OpenAI's API and user reports to help filter unsafe, prohibited, abusive, or illegal content. DaBid may reject, hold, hide, remove, or restrict content or accounts when safety or rule-enforcement signals warrant it.
Reports are for platform safety and enforcement. DaBid does not promise to mediate disagreements about item condition, no-shows, or completed pickups. Automatic ticket release, commitment, burn, or restoration follows the recorded app pickup state.
Legacy listings and termination
Listings created under an older DaBid model may be archived and require the giver to relist under these rules. DaBid may suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts and content to protect users, comply with law, or enforce these terms.
