Safety and Prohibited Items

DaBid is a free, pickup-only giveaway service with conservative item rules and report and block controls.

Pickup safety

• Prefer a public, well-lit pickup location when possible and tell someone you trust where you are going.
• Use the structured pickup flow. DaBid does not offer chat, route planning, live location, transportation, or emergency help.
• Share only the information needed for pickup. Exact pickup details remain participant-only after allocation.
• Do not complete a pickup that feels unsafe. Contact local emergency services for an immediate threat.
• Use report controls for threats, prohibited content, suspicious requests, manipulation, or account abuse. Use block controls to limit future contact in app surfaces.

No payment—ever

Every item listed on DaBid is free. Never pay, request payment, accept payment, send a deposit, disclose financial credentials, or move a supposed DaBid payment to another service. Bid Tickets cannot be purchased, transferred, redeemed, cashed out, or used outside DaBid. A request for money or valuable consideration is outside the service and should be reported.

Fair allocation and account abuse

A Quick Giveaway goes to the first eligible, server-confirmed claim. A Ticket Giveaway uses sealed bids and deterministic server rules. A giver cannot choose among claimants or bidders. Do not use multiple accounts, evade a block or restriction, coordinate fake activity, manipulate bids or timestamps, or falsely record pickup events.

Prohibited items

Users may not list anything illegal, recalled, stolen, counterfeit, hazardous, regulated, or requiring licensing or special handling. Prohibited examples include weapons, ammunition, explosives, tobacco or nicotine products, cannabis, alcohol, medicine, medical devices, supplements, gift cards, event or travel tickets, animals, adult services, recalled goods, and unsafe or damaged items. DaBid may reject or remove other items when risk is uncertain.

Packaged pantry food

Allowed pantry food must be factory sealed, shelf stable, in original undamaged packaging, have a legible label, and be within its stated best-by date. The giver must provide package photos and complete the food attestation.

DaBid does not allow infant formula, baby food, homemade food, fresh produce, refrigerated or frozen food, meat, seafood, opened or damaged packages, expired or recalled food, alcohol, supplements, or medicine.

Moderation and reports

With explicit user consent, DaBid uses OpenAI's API for automated text and image moderation, together with giver attestations, reports, and blocks. DaBid may reject, hold, hide, remove, or restrict content or accounts when automated checks or reports indicate risk.

Reports support platform safety and rule enforcement; they are not a payment, item-condition, no-show, or completed-pickup dispute-resolution service. Ticket state follows the recorded app pickup state.
