Privacy Policy

This policy explains the data DaBid uses for free local giveaways, safety, and account controls.

Data DaBid collects

• Account and profile: email address, preferred display name, home ZIP, age attestation, onboarding state, account status, and privacy choices.
• Location entered by users: home and pickup ZIP or broad area, plus a giver-selected exact pickup place, address, coordinates, instructions, and optional pickup reference photo. DaBid does not request device GPS or current-location permission.
• User content: item descriptions, photos, category and condition, pickup availability and public area notes, pantry-food details and attestations, reports, feedback, and profile choices.
• Allocation activity: Quick claims; sealed Ticket Giveaway bids, edits, withdrawals, and final server timestamps; a private instant-match target; available, held, committed, restored, and burned ticket events; allocation and pickup state.
• Safety and account activity: moderation decisions, report history, blocks, likes, follows, activity records, reliability events and restrictions, contribution recognition and badge state, privacy requests, and limited audit records.

Data kept only on the device

DaBid may keep saved searches, recently viewed or uninterested listing identifiers, local alert state, giver form defaults, and temporary listing-draft media on the device. This local-only data is not sent to DaBid unless the user submits related content or an action.

How DaBid uses data

• To create and protect accounts, enforce eligibility and limits, and prevent abuse.
• To publish giveaways, allocate recipients, maintain the authoritative ticket ledger, and coordinate pickups.
• To operate reports, blocks, moderation, reliability restrictions, and safety review.
• To show private account history and, only when enabled, limited public giver recognition.
• To provide account export, privacy requests, retained-data deletion, and account deletion.

What is public and what stays private

Active listings may show the giver's display name, item details and photos, category, condition, pickup ZIP or broad area, public pickup note, availability windows, and limited contribution recognition if the giver opts in. Public recognition is off by default and may include a completed-giveaway count, ZIP-area placement, and badges.

Exact pickup place, address, coordinates, instructions, updates, and any pickup reference photo are shown only to the allocated giver and recipient. Ticket balances and ledger events, sealed bids and bidders, the current leader, reliability details, reports, and moderation records are not public. An optional instant-match target is visible only to its giver in that giver's private owned-listing view and remains private after allocation or closing.

Service providers and disclosure

With explicit consent that names the provider and content types, DaBid sends listing text, listing photos, and moderated report details to OpenAI's API for automated safety moderation. A user may decline and continue browsing, claiming, and bidding, but publishing a listing or submitting a moderated report requires current consent.

DaBid uses service providers needed to host and secure accounts, data, and photos. DaBid may disclose limited information when required by law or needed to protect users and the service. DaBid does not sell personal information, does not track users across apps or websites, and does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs in the current app.

No financial or purchase data

Every item is free. DaBid does not collect or process cards, bank details, payment handles, purchase history, outside payment proof, cryptocurrency, or other financial information. Bid Tickets are free, nonpurchasable participation capacity with no monetary value; they cannot be transferred, redeemed, cashed out, or used outside DaBid.

Notifications

Remote push notifications are disabled in the current release. DaBid therefore does not register or store an Apple push device token for this release. Current activity is refreshed in the app. This policy will be updated before remote notifications are enabled.

Retention and deletion

DaBid may archive old listings and prune stale user-facing activity and expired pickup media. Users can request export, retained-data deletion, or account deletion in the app. Account deletion closes active listings, claims, bids, and pickups where applicable; releases or restores ticket state according to the recorded state; removes owned listing photos; anonymizes the public profile; clears local session state; and deletes the sign-in account.

DaBid may retain limited pickup, ticket-ledger, report, moderation, safety, legal, audit, or abuse-prevention records when reasonably needed, without keeping the deleted account public or active.

Children

DaBid is intended only for adults 18 and older and does not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account.
